Job Title: Earthing Systems Engineer, Full Time.

Starting Salary: Up to £45,000 per annum (based on experience).

Location: Manchester, UK

 

Enspec is looking for an ambitious and technically skilled Earthing Engineer to join our team. This role will primarily focus on delivering earthing studies using CDEGS. The successful candidate will play a key role in contributing to the development of earthing solutions and will be part of a growing team that will focus on providing the full suite of earthing studies. 

The Role 

  • Assist in the delivery of earthing studies using CDEGS or XGSLab software, ensuring compliance with industry standards and client requirements. 
  • Conduct steady-state earthing studies, including fault current analysis, grounding grid design, and earthing system modelling. 
  • Support transient analysis and simulations of earthing and grounding systems. 
  • Contribute to power quality studies and harmonic filtering, ensuring earthing systems integrate with broader power systems. 
  • Assist in the design and optimisation of earthing systems for new infrastructure projects, including onshore and offshore grid connections. 
  • Provide technical support and assistance on earthing-related queries. 
  • Contribute to the development of solutions for earthing, working with other power systems engineering teams. 
  • Ensure quality control in the preparation of reports and deliverables related to earthing systems. 

A typical week would include: 

  • Supporting the delivery of earthing consultancy services and studies, focusing on CDEGS or XGSLab and related tools. 
  • Assisting with fault current analysis, grounding system designs, and earthing grid simulations. 
  • Collaborating with senior engineers to ensure the technical quality of reports and proposals. 
  • Assisting with client-facing communications regarding earthing studies.
  • Contributing to the development of earthing solutions for various projects. 
  • Working with a team to develop and optimise earthing designs, supporting the creation of a full suite of studies. 

Qualifications and Requirements 

  • Electrical Engineering degree or equivalent. 
  • A strong interest in earthing systems and grounding design, with a focus on CDEGS software. 
  • Experience with CDEGS and/or XGSLab. 
  • An understanding of UK Grid Code Compliance, specifically related to earthing and fault current analysis.
  • Proficiency in delivering technical reports and presentations. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written. 
  • A proactive and self-motivated individual with the ability to work as part of a team. 

Preference 

  • Experience or interest in learning about international power systems standards, including earthing requirements in regions such as the USA, Australia, and Africa. 
  • Interest in sustainable energy projects, including Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and their impact on earthing design.
