The year 2023 has been marked by significant milestones, breakthrough innovations, and a steadfast commitment to delivering cutting-edge solutions in the field of electrical engineering. I am honoured to present the remarkable accomplishments that have been made possible by the dedication and expertise of our exceptional team.

HV Passive Harmonic Filters: Reaffirming our Commitment to Power Quality Solution Advancement

One of the standout achievements this year has been the successful design, manufacturing, and delivery of 8 HV Passive Harmonic filters. Collectively, these filters produce approximately 25MVAr output, showcasing our unwavering dedication to providing high-quality power management solutions. The deployment of these filters reinforces our commitment to enabling efficient and reliable power distribution while mitigating the adverse effects of harmonics in electrical systems.

Custom Fault Detection System: Tailored Solutions for Specialised Energy Infrastructures

Our expertise in developing tailored solutions for specialised energy infrastructures was exemplified in successfully delivering a bespoke fault detection system for one of the UK’s pioneering direct-to-customer DC networks. This custom system not only demonstrated our technical capability but also underscored our ability to address the unique challenges of modern energy distribution networks. We take pride in our capability to provide innovative solutions that precisely meet the evolving needs of our clients, solidifying our reputation as a trusted partner in the industry.

Contribution to Pioneering Initiatives: Collaborating for a Sustainable Energy Future

Collaboration has been central to our efforts in driving forward sustainable energy initiatives. Our partnership with the National Grid Electricity System Operator (ESO) and SP Energy Networks to explore the utilisation of Distributed Energy Resources in restoring power to the transmission network stands as a testament to our commitment to innovation. Our innovative use of PoW switching technology, developed by Vizimax, played a pivotal role in successful live network trials. These initiatives have not only advanced the adoption of renewable energy sources but have also laid the foundation for a more resilient and sustainable energy landscape.

LV Active Harmonic Filtration Supply: Empowering Large-Scale Manufacturing Customers

Our impact extended to supporting large-scale manufacturing customers across the UK through the specification, supply, and commissioning of around 2500A of LV Active Harmonic filtration systems. By ensuring improved power quality for our industrial partners, we have contributed to enhancing operational efficiency and reliability, underscoring the indispensable role of our solutions in diverse industrial applications.

Point-on-Wave Relay Commissioning: Driving Renewable Energy Integration

Contributing significantly to the commissioning of the UK’s largest onshore Wind Farm, our team played a pivotal role in commissioning over 70 individual Point-on-Wave relays on the Shetland Islands Viking Windfarm. This achievement not only reinforced our collaboration with industry leaders Vestas and SSE Renewables but also underscored our commitment to advancing the integration of renewable energy into the power grid. Our efforts have been instrumental in bolstering the reliability and efficiency of renewable energy systems, paving the way for a more sustainable energy future.

Grid Connection & Power Quality Studies: Enabling the Transition to Net Zero Emissions

Enspec’s consultancy team completed grid connection and power quality studies for over 130 sites across the UK and Europe, with a significant focus on supporting renewable developments. With over 80% of our studies dedicated to renewable energy projects, we have played a pivotal role in supporting the nation’s journey towards achieving net zero emissions. Our expertise in assessing and optimising grid connections has been instrumental in facilitating the seamless integration of renewable energy sources, furthering our commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship.

Field Engineering Excellence: Ensuring Operational Reliability

Our field engineering team effectively maintained over 200 power factor correction and harmonic filtration units across the UK and Ireland, including approximately 40 HV units on Wind and Solar farms, showcasing our commitment to operational reliability. Our proactive approach to maintenance and servicing demonstrates our unwavering dedication to ensuring the continuous and optimal performance of our solutions, further strengthening the trust and satisfaction of our clients.
