Earthing System Design

A Wind Farm Project

Power Quality Survey Icon

The Problem in Detail

The Wind Farm Project required a thorough earthing system design to ensure electrical safety and prevent dangerous potential differences, especially with a classification of the site as ‘HOT’ due to high Earth Potential Rise (EPR).

Finding the Solution

A comprehensive earthing study was conducted using CDEGS software, analyzing soil resistivity and step/touch voltages to design an effective earth electrode system that met UK standards and ensured safety across the site.

Making it All Work

The earthing design ensured the safety of personnel and equipment by keeping touch and step voltages within permissible limits and mitigating risks from EPR, classified the site for proper handling of the hot zone.

What That Means for the Project Now

With the successful implementation of the earthing design, the wind farm operates safely, adhering to regulatory standards while protecting infrastructure and personnel from electrical faults and surges.
