New Users (Wind Farms, Solar Farms & BESS), which connect to the grid, must meet corresponding harmonic requirements. In cases where harmonic disturbances exceed the requirement, as shown from a harmonic study, the installation of a harmonic mitigation measure is required. Passive filters are one of the most applicable & practical solutions to mitigate harmonic distortions. The most common passive filter types can be summarised as De-tuned, Single tuned, Second order or C-type filters. A comprehensive harmonic system modelling study for a site with multiple renewable integrations is shown and how harmonic filter solutions mitigate the harmonic disturbances and reduce carbon emissions.
