On 20 November 2025 we delivered the first session of our new webinar series, created to share our knowledge with the wider engineering community.
The webinar, Hydrogen Electrolysers: Challenges & Capabilities, was led by Dr MohamadAli Amini and hosted by our CEO, Mara Rastall. Together they explored Ali’s latest research on Hydrogen Electrolysers and the practical considerations required to integrate these technologies into modern power systems.
Hydrogen is expected to play a significant role in the global energy transition. However, fully understanding its technical challenges is essential to unlock its potential. Throughout the session, Ali and Mara discussed topics such as:
• Hydrogen production pathways and the meaning behind its “colour” classifications
• A comparison of leading electrolyser technologies including AWE, PEM and SOE
• The role of electrolysers as long term energy storage when compared with batteries or pumped hydro
• Global and UK market trends, including project capacities and sector growth
• Power system integration challenges and the studies needed to ensure safe grid connection
This webinar marks the beginning of a series designed to support engineers, project developers and asset owners who are navigating the growing hydrogen landscape.
