Enspec Power CEO Mara Rastall has been recognised as one of the UK’s Top 50 Most Ambitious Business Leaders for 2026, celebrating her leadership through a period of substantial growth and investment in the business.
The recognition is part of The LDC Top 50 Most Ambitious Business Leaders programme, run by private equity investor LDC in partnership with The Times. More than 620 nominations were received from across the UK this year, with 50 business leaders selected for their achievements and commitment to growth.
For Enspec, it’s an opportunity to recognise the ambition that has shaped our development and the people who have helped turn that ambition into progress.
Building on 25 years of engineering expertise
Enspec has grown from approximately £3 million in annual revenue to more than £12 million, with our workforce expanding from 17 to around 50 people.
That growth has allowed us to invest further in our engineering capabilities, strengthen our operations and expand the expertise available to our clients.
Over more than 25 years, we’ve developed specialist capabilities in power quality and grid connection engineering. Today, our Consultancy, Manufacturing and Site Services teams work across some of the UK’s most technically demanding electrical infrastructure projects.
As the energy sector evolves, so do the requirements placed on electrical networks. Supporting new renewable generation, battery energy storage and growing electricity demand requires increasingly sophisticated engineering solutions.
Our investment in people and technical capability reflects both the opportunities emerging across the sector and our commitment to delivering the quality of engineering our clients expect.
Recognising the work behind the growth
Mara’s leadership has been instrumental in guiding Enspec through this period of expansion, with a focus on building the internal capabilities and processes needed to support the business as it grows.
Reflecting on the recognition, Mara said:
“What this award represents to me is the accumulation of a lot of unglamorous work. The decisions made under pressure, processes built when nobody was watching and the continued investment in people and capability shows up, consistently, in the quality of work we deliver.”
It’s a reflection that will resonate with many of our colleagues. Behind the growth figures are years of work across the business, from developing our engineering expertise to strengthening the systems that support our day-to-day operations.
Mara attended the awards celebration at BAFTA alongside our Head of Finance, Toma Zareckaite, whose contribution to Enspec’s financial development has played an important role in supporting our continued growth.
A milestone worth celebrating
Since its launch in 2018, The LDC Top 50 has recognised hundreds of ambitious business leaders across the UK.
This year’s selected businesses collectively generate £1.4 billion in annual revenue and employ almost 8,500 people, demonstrating the contribution of growing businesses to the UK economy.
John Garner, Managing Partner at LDC, commented:
“What stands out about this year’s LDC Top 50 is not only what these leaders have already achieved, but their determination to keep moving forward.”
We’re proud to see Mara Rastall recognised alongside this year’s business leaders. It’s a well-deserved acknowledgement of her commitment to Enspec and the progress we’ve made together.
As we look ahead, our focus remains on developing the engineering expertise and operational capabilities that will support the next stage of Enspec’s growth.
