This month marks five years since Mara Rastall joined Enspec.
Over that time, the business has continued to evolve. Alongside investment in new capabilities, has come a stronger focus on strategy, communication, employee development and the systems that support sustainable growth.
Throughout that period, Mara has played a central role in helping shape the business behind the engineering. Her leadership has supported the development of new functions, clearer ways of working and a culture that gives people the confidence to take ownership, develop their careers and contribute to the long-term success of the business.
The result is an organisation that has remained true to its engineering roots while continuing to strengthen the way it serves clients, supports its people and prepares for the future.
Reflecting on Mara’s five-year anniversary, Head of Business Excellence Kelly Moylan said:
“Mara has had an extraordinary impact on Enspec over the last five years. Her leadership has helped shape the business into a more ambitious, structured and people-focused organisation. She has consistently looked beyond the immediate needs of the business and focused on how Enspec can grow sustainably, strengthen its reputation and create opportunities for both its people and its clients.
What makes Mara’s contribution particularly special is the way she combines commercial drive with genuine care for those around her. She has invested in benefits, development, communication and recognition, while also pushing the business to modernise and improve. She empowers people, trusts them with responsibility and gives them the confidence to grow. Her influence can be seen not only in Enspec’s performance and reputation, but in the culture she has created and the loyalty she inspires in the people who work alongside her. Five years on, the business is stronger, more forward-thinking and more connected because of her leadership.”
Chief Technology Officer Tim Rastall reflected on the transformation Enspec has experienced over the past five years.
“When Mara joined Enspec five years ago, we were an exceptional team of engineers, but fundamentally we were just that: engineers. We had no real marketing function, no defined strategy, no HR capability, limited internal communication and very little focus on culture or brand. We knew we solved some of the industry’s most complex power quality challenges, but we weren’t always able to communicate that effectively to the outside world.
One of Mara’s greatest achievements has been professionalising the business without ever changing who we are. She has built the functions, processes and culture that have allowed our engineering excellence to shine. She has helped us translate highly technical expertise into something customers, partners and future employees can understand and value, while creating an organisation where people genuinely enjoy coming to work and have opportunities to grow.
The business Enspec is today simply wouldn’t exist without her influence. Her vision, determination and belief in what Enspec could become have helped transform us from a company of great engineers into a great company.”
Five years on, many of the foundations that support Enspec today have been shaped during this period of transformation. The business continues to build on its engineering heritage while investing in its people, strengthening its capabilities and preparing for the opportunities ahead.
As Enspec looks to the future, the ambition remains the same: to continue solving complex engineering challenges while building a business that is equally recognised for its people, its culture and the value it delivers to clients.
