Overview
This is a senior role with broad scope. You’ll take full ownership of Enspec’s financial operations, reporting and compliance, while also playing a key role in strategic decision-making as part of the Senior Leadership Team.
The right candidate will have experience that straddles both day-to-day finance management and strategic financial planning. You’ll be confident presenting at board level and equally comfortable digging into the detail with your team.
This role will stretch to a Head of Finance position and ultimately Finance Director for someone with exceptional experience and ambition.
Responsibilities– will include but not exclusive to:
- Own all finance functions: billing, AP/AR, cost accounting, revenue recognition, GL, inventory and payroll.
- Prepare and publish accurate monthly management accounts, financial statements, and forecasts.
- Monitor cash flow, cost control, project profitability and customer risk across the business.
- Drive financial strategy and budgeting processes, including supporting with bids, sales and new service lines.
- Provide clear, high-quality management information to the Board and Directors.
- Ensure compliance with all tax and regulatory requirements including VAT, CT and HMRC liaison.
- CRM/MRP/ERP management in conjunction with business leaders.
- Manage relationships with auditors, banks, HMRC, and other key financial stakeholders.
- Lead on continuous improvement of systems, internal controls and financial processes.
- Develop and maintain a robust, scalable financial forecasting model.
- Embed financial KPIs across departments and support the senior team to drive accountability.
- Line manage and develop the accounts team, building a culture of CPD and high performance.
- Run weekly finance meetings, contributing insight to business decisions and commercial direction.
- Represent finance externally where needed, including presentations to clients and partners.
What we’re looking for:
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA).
- Strong background in manufacturing, engineering or industrial B2B sectors.
- Commercially astute with proven experience driving financial strategy in a growing business.
- High proficiency in Excel, financial modelling, PowerBi and data analysis.
- Excellent communicator with the confidence to influence at all levels.
- Hands-on, proactive and resilient – you’ll thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
- Experience managing teams, developing processes and owning finance end-to-end.
- Comfortable presenting to boards, investors and external stakeholders.
- Passion for technology, automation, continuous improvement and building systems that scale.
