Job Title: IT Systems Manager, Full Time.
Starting Salary: Up to £45,000 per annum (based on experience).
Location: Manchester, UK
As the IT Manager at Enspec, you will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and directing all IT and systems activities. Your role will involve developing and implementing IT strategies, managing network security, maintaining hardware, and ensuring smooth IT operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Planning: Develop and implement the long-term IT infrastructure and systems strategy, ensuring year-on-year progress in achieving strategic goals.
- System Development: Collaborate with various teams to identify, recommend, develop, implement, and support cost-effective IT and system solutions, including ongoing development, improvement, and integration of existing systems.
- Technical Support: troubleshooting for hardware, software, and network issues.
- Policy Implementation: Define and implement IT policies, procedures, and best practices that conform to industry standards, legal and regulatory requirements, and client requirements.
- Risk Management: Take a proactive role in developing robust infrastructure and data systems by critically reviewing systems regularly and mitigating hardware, software, and data risks.
- Project Management: Participate in key IT and business projects as a project manager or contributor.
- Supplier Management: Manage relationships with Managed Service Providers (MSPs) and other IT suppliers, ensuring service level agreements (SLAs) are met and cost-effectiveness is maintained.
- Drive Innovation: think strategically about the company’s IT infrastructure.
- Security Management: Ensure the security of IT and data infrastructure, including compliance with PCI, GDPR, and handling external security risks.
- Service Oversight: Oversee IT service desk and support, IT and data security policies, software licenses, third-party contracts, IT hardware and infrastructure, budget management, and data reporting systems.
- Network Management: Manage and support the network, including routers, switches, firewalls, VLANs, and ensure the smooth operation of all internal systems and servers, including cloud services, e-mail, printers, telephony, etc.
- Process Improvement: Design and implement new processes to improve the efficiency of the company’s IT systems.
- Procurement Management: Oversee and organise the purchasing of all hardware and software, ensuring cost-effectiveness.
- Provide Training: Training and support to team members on IT related issues and best practices.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Experience: Proven experience in delivering IT support in a commercial environment, including managerial roles.
- Technical Skills: Extensive technical background across IT systems, software, and hardware. Proficiency in networking, including firewalls and VPN systems. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft systems and technologies, including Office 365. Plus comfortability working in a mixed OS environment including; Windows, Mac and Linux.
- Security Knowledge: Excellent knowledge of cyber security considerations and best practices, including GDPR / Cyber Essentials.
- Problem-Solving: Exceptional problem-solving and analytical capabilities.
- Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
- Project Management: Demonstrated project management skills.
- Customer Service: Exceptional customer service orientation.
- Mindset: A growth mindset and willingness to innovate and explore new technologies.
Desirable Qualifications:
- ISO/IEC 27001: Experience with ISO/IEC 27001.
- Programming: Familiarity with programming languages such as Python, Laravel on LAMP stack, PHP, and MySQL.
- Scripting: wider scripting experience as well as Apache experience would be a benefit.
- International Experience: Experience working within a growing business that operates internationally.
